A photo gallery of my springtime visit to VanDusen Botanical Garden
The VanDusen Botanical Garden is a spectacular spot just outside of downtown Vancouver, blooming with nature and wildlife. Located in Shaughnessy on part of the old golf course, the gardens have been providing an oasis in the city since 1970. One could easily get lost exploring its 55 acres of trees, plants and flowers. The maze is a fun adventure and I exited through the entrance – oops. I clearly have zero sense of direction, lol!
Below are a few of the pictures I captured during my afternoon exploring the Garden and its wondrous sights. Each season brings new and different blooms and I can attest to Spring being especially gorgeous.

Visiting the gardens right now comes with a few changes. Covid-19 has resulted in increased safety measures. These allow visitors to enjoy the gardens while maintaining a safe distance from others. Signs currently direct visitors along one-way paths and ask that people stay 6′ away from other groups.
VanDusen Botanical Garden Visiting Information
As of the time of writing, the Vandusen Garden is open while the on-site restaurant remains closed. Located at 5151 Oak Street, it is easily accessible via public transit and parking is also available and open. Tickets must be purchased in advance online. Visit the VanDusen website to purchase your advance tickets. I can certainly see visiting the Garden multiple times throughout the year to see the various blooms and glorious fall colours. Check out their Bloom Schedule online to plan your visit.
Have you ever been? I’d love to hear about your visit and the time of year you went. I just missed cherry blossom season and feel that I’ll have to get there a bit earlier next year. I’m definitely considering a fall visit though!
